SEMINAR: Papallones com a sistema model per a sistemàtica molecular i ecologia de la dispersió

Cicle de seminaris IBB
Speaker: Gerard Talavera (Investigador Ramón y Cajal, Institut Botànic de Barcelona)
When: Tuesday 27th April 12:00pm
Online seminar via Zoom.
Butterflies are popular model systems to investigate many biological queries in diverse fields such as genetics, ecology, evolution, population dynamics, developmental biology, or conservation.
Dr. Talavera will drive you through their most recent advances in assessing the complex taxonomy of the hyperdiverse blues (Polyommatina, Lycaenidae) through novel phylogenetic systematics approaches. Also, he will explain how they are studying the population dynamics and puzzling long-range migrations in painted lady butterflies (Nymphalidae) by combining genomics, niche modelling, pollen metabarcoding and isotope ecology.
